On this day, India's 1st aircraft carrier INS Vikrant was commissioned, a Majestic Class vessel formerly known HMS Hercules. She served for 37 years and helped blockade East Pakistan during the '71 war. India's 1st indigenously built carrier will also be named Vikrant.
