Number of smart meters that were 'erroneously' disconnected in Uttar Pradesh. At around 3:30 PM on 12 Aug 2020, a command was given by someone to disconnect all 1.23 million smart meters. The EESL team came to know of it at around 4:30 PM, and stopped the shutdown process. Immediate restoration protocol was triggered after the incident & the reconnection command was issued at 16.48 hrs on all disconnected meters. Consequently, EESL has been successful in restoring 90% of connections by 11:30 pm.
