India celebrates National Doctors Day on this day in honor of Bharat Ratna awardee and former CM of West Bengal Bidhan Chandra Roy who dedicated his life to medicine, set-up key institutions and even served as a doctor to Mahatma Gandhi when he was undertaking a fast in Pune in 1933.
