Congo’s health ministry announces the end of the Ebola outbreak. The day marks the first full Ebola-free day since an epidemic began in the north-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Forty-two days (2 incubation periods) have elapsed since the last confirmed case. It takes up to three weeks for symptoms to appear after exposure to the virus.
