Live storage and water levels in dams in Marathwada region of Maharashtra - By district [30 Sep 2022]

पैठण / Jayakwadi Dam - Paithan, Aurangabad. At 99.95% of its full capacity of 2,170,930 million litres, compared to 99.00% at the same time last year. The dam is the primary source of water for irrigation, drinking and industrial use in eight districts of the Marathwada region, including major industries in Aurangabad and Jalna, as well as to nearly 2.5 lakh hectares of farmland. 18 Jul: Residents in the vicinity of the dam have been asked to stay alert as its water storage had reached 74.60% of capacity as on Monday evening due to heavy rains. According to dam officials, "If the inflow continues at this rate, dam gates will have to be lifted to discharge water. Hence, we have raised an alert for villages along the banks of the Godavari river (on which the dam is built) in Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, and Nanded."

माजलगाव / Majalgaon Dam - Beed. At 97.80% of its full capacity of 311,340 million litres, compared to 99.00% at the same time last year. The dam supplies drinking water to Beed and Majalgaon among other nearby areas. If the live storage goes above 30%, water is used to 93,885 hectares of land in Majalgaon and Parli talukas in Beed district, Gangakhed and Sonpeth in Parbhnai district and few areas in Nanded district. Tertiary purpose is to supply water to the thermal power station at Parli.

मांजरा / Manjara Dam - Beed. At 67.01% of its full capacity of 176,960 million litres, compared to 100.00% at the same time last year. The dam provides multipurpose benefits of irrigation, drinking water supply, flood control and hydropower generation. The reservoir is a source of water for Amravati city, and Morshi and Warud Talukas.
