Unit 8 of Suratgarh Super Critical Thermal Power Project begins generating energy commercially on 08 Oct 2021. The Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited was given the work order in 2013. The synchronization of this unit began on 23 Mar 2021 and power generation on full load started on 30 Aug 2021.

NTPC starts commercial operation of the Unit 1 of its Barh Super Thermal Power Station Stage-I (3x660 MW) at 00:00 hrs of 12 Nov 2021. Stage-1 is being built by Russian firm Technopromexport (TPE). NTPC starts commercial operation of Unit 4 at the (4 x 250 MW) Nabinagar Thermal Power Station located in Bihar's Nabinagar taluka at 00:00 hrs of 01 Dec 2021. The power station is operated under Bharatiya Rail Bijlee Company Limited (BRBCL) - a JV between NTPC and Indian Railways.

Unit 1 of SEPC Power Private Limited's Tuticorin Thermal Power Plant commissioned in Dec 2021. Built by Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd. (MEIL), the plant uses seawater cooling technology in the water treatment plant.

The commercial operation date (COD) of Unit 4 of Bhadradri Thermal Power Station (BTPS) was declared at 08:37 hours on 09 Jan 2022 after required trial run of the unit for 72 hours continuously with full load. er Station near Manuguru in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district. Telangana State Power Generation Corporation (TSGenco) thus completes the execution of 1,080 MW (4×270) Bhadradri Thermal Power Station, a greenfield project near Manuguru in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district. The first three units commenced commercial operation on June 5, 2020, on December 12, 2020 and on March 27, 2021, respectively.

The commercial operation date (COD) of Unit 10 of UPRVUNL's Harduaganj Thermal Power Station was declared on 09 Feb 2022. The unit was successfully commissioned on 23 Aug 2021. The plant is located at Qasimpur Power House Colony which is 1 km from Harduaganj Railway Station in Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh.

NTPC commissions the 3rd and final unit of third and final unit of Nabinagar Power Generating Company (NPGC) located at Nabinagar in Aurangabad district in Bihar. As per the power allocation agreement, Bihar is slated to get 84.8% of the total power generated from the unit. The rest has been allocated to to Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Sikkim.
