Estimated losses of red chilli growers of Kurugodu taluk due to heavy rain lashing around 20 Nov. The red chilli can be stored in the warehouse only after they get dried in open places. Lack of proper storage facility and arrangements for drying are the reasond for the loss. Though a cold storage was announced to be built at Aladahalli in the taluk but no progress is seen.

Area of land in Shivamogga that has seen damage of standing crop due to incessant rainfall pouring across the district in 2 days - 19 and 20 Nov. Includes 101 hectares of paddy crop, 9 hectares of maize and 2 hectares of other crops. Earlier showers on 13 and 14 Nov had resulted in damage of standing crops in 56 hectares. In most areas, fields of paddy, maize and other crops are waterlogged. The authorities have been directing the farmers to drain out the logged water, which can affect the crop yield.
