Hirakud Dam. At 80% of its live storage capacity of 4,821,550 million litres. Water levels at 621 ft as against FRL of 625 ft. Excess floodwater is being discharged through 24 gates on Friday morning (28 Aug). The decision to open more gates was taken after incessant rains in the upper and lower catchment areas resulted in an increase in water level. The water inflow into the Hirakud Dam was at 65,6006 cusecs while outflow is 33,5658 cusecs. Water flow in the downstream of the dam was 7,54,385 lakh cusecs near Mundali and 6.10 lakh cusec near Barmul. Currently, the water level in the reservoir stands at 625 feet against a maximum water holding capacity of 630 feet. Dam authorities are likely to open more gates in the coming days, said sources.

Rengali Dam. At 104% of its live storage capacity of 3,413,710 million litres. Water levels at 124 m as against FRL of 123 m. CWC notifies dam authorities as water levels cross dam's FRL. Close watch to be maintained in gate operation of reservoir taking into account any local heavy rainfall in its catchment to avoid touching MWL.

Balimela Dam. At 64% of its live storage capacity of 2,676,000 million litre. Water levels at 1,474 ft as against FRL of 1,495 ft.

Machhkund Dam. At 73% of its live storage capacity of 969,930 million litres. Water levels at 2,727 ft as against FRL of 2,738 ft.

Upper Kolab Dam. At 33% of its live storage capacity of 935,000 million litres. Water levels at 843 m as against FRL of 850 m.

Indravati Dam. At 62% of its live storage capacity of 1,485,500 million cubic meters. Water levels at 631 m as against FRL of 636 m.

Salandi Dam. At 85% of its live storage capacity of 556,500 million litres. Water levels at 74 m as against FRL of 78 m.
