    Coal based generation capacity shut down or converted across India in fiscal year 2020-21. In all 10 units in 3 plants were shut down. During the same period, 4,090 MW of new capacity has been added.

    Units 2, 3, 4 & 8 (50+50+50+100 = 250 MW) of Neyvelli Thermal Power Station - I retired from central sector of Southern Region in Jul 2020.
  • 100 MW
    Unit 5 & 6 (50+50 = 100 MW) of Neyvelli Thermal Power Station - I have been retired from Central Sector of Southern Region in Sep 2020.
  • 240 MW
    Unit-1&2 (2x120 = 240 MW) of KORBA-III has been retired from state sector of Chhattisgarh in Jan 2021.
  • 140 MW
    Unit-1&2 (2x70 = 140 MW) of KUTCH Lignite Thermal Power Station has been retired from state sector of Gujarat in Jan 2021.
