Number of relief camps that have been set up across the state. Over 50,000 affected people have taken shelter at these camps. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), personnel of the State Disaster Response Force, district administrations and locals have rescued 366 persons during the last 24 hours (19 Jul).

of Kaziranga National Park has been submerged. 8 rhinos have drowned and over 100 other animals have been killed according to Assam’s agriculture minister Atul Bora. 60 animals (36 hog deer, 8 rhinos, 3 wild buffalo, 1 python, 7 wild boar, 2 swamp deer, 1 Sambar and 2 porcupines) have so far died due to drowning, according to state government.

The first wave of flood hits the state amid the spike in COVID-19 positive cases, affecting 10,801 people in 4 districts. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said 46 villages have been affected in Lakhimpur, Sivasagar, Darrang and Goalpara districts. Goalpara was worst affected with 21 villages already inundated due to the rains in the past 4 days. The flood has damaged crops in 501 hectares, while 13, 448 animals have also been affected.

Water levels in Kopili river at Kampur in Nagaon District rises to 61.74 metres 1.24 metres above the danger level. The Brahmaputra river at Neamatighat in Jorhat rises to  85.41 metres, 0.37 metres above the danger level. According to ASDMA, 271,655 people are now affected by flooding in 11 districts, with over 215,000 of them in Goalpara and more than 22,000 in Nalbari. As of now, 57 relief camps have been set up, housing 16,720 people.

20 killed in five landslides in Assam’s Barak Valley. Landslides occurred in all 3 districts – Cachar, Karimganj, and Hailakandi. Heavy rains since morning of 01 Jun triggered incidents. 7 people each were killed in Cachar and Hailakandi while 6 people lost their lives in Karimganj.
