Delhi govt declares Corona virus an epidemic and advises people to exercise abundant caution to contain the disease. All cinema halls, schools, colleges in Delhi instructed to be shut until 31 Mar, however ongoing exams will continue as scheduled. People advised to stay away from public gatherings.

Number of rooms in 3 premier hotels in Aerocity near Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport set aside to quarantine international visitors if needed. New Delhi District Magistrate Tanvi Garg issued the orders under the Delhi Epidemic Diseases, COVID – 19 Regulations, 2020, after detailed consultations with the authorities of the three hotels. The IBIS will have to set aside 92 rooms, The Lemon Tree Premier 54 and Red Fox 36 rooms. The per day rate of the rooms have been capped at Rs 3,100 (plus taxes), which includes breakfast, lunch, dinner; two bottles of mineral water per day; tea and coffee and other facilities such as WiFi and TV.

Free disinfection for all private taxis, auto rickshaws, e-rickshaws and grameen sewas starts at bus depots.

All DMs, SDMs and municipal commissioners directed by the Chief Minister to set up portable washbasins with automatic soap dispensers in public spaces that have not yet been shut.

All schools, colleges and universities in Delhi to be shut down completely both for students & staff until 31 Mar. All exams, including Board exams will be held only after 31 Mar.

All non-essential public dealing activities stopped till 31 Mar. Only essential public dealing activities will continue. All non-essential staff directed to work from home. All permanent and contractual employees will be paid for this period.

Number of beneficiaries that will receive Rs 4000 to Rs. 5000 pension that will be paid by 07 Apr. Announcement made on 21 Mar.

Number of Delhi citizens that will receive free rations to help them counter impact on their livelihood. The beneficiaries will receive 50% more quantity than normal entitlements. Announcement made on 21 Mar.

Lunch and dinner will be served free to each and every person at all Delhi govt night shelters.

Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures. Delhi goes under lockdown starting 6 AM until 31 Mar. Certain exceptions have been made to ensure essential items are available for purchase and basic services continue to operate.
