    Coal based generation capacity commissioned across India in fiscal year 2018-19. In all 11 units in 10 plants were commissioned. During the same period, 2,179 MW of capacity was retired.
  • Unit 2 of Essar Power's Mahan Power Plant in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh commissioned on 10 Oct 2018. With this, the 1,200 MW power plant stands completed at an overall Rs 8,000 crore investment. Both units are now operational and are supported by raw material sourcing and evacuation infrastructure. Coal for the project will be transported with the help of the Gajra Behra railway siding capable of handling up to 3 rakes per day.

  • Unit 12 of Telangana State Power Generation Corporation (TSGENCO)'s Kothagudem Thermal Power Station (KTPS) at  Paloncha in Telangana commissioned in Jan 2019 taking the total installed capacity at this plant to 2,660 MW. BHEL was the EPC contractor and commissioned the plant in a record speed of 46 months at an estimated cost of Rs 5,700 crore.

    Unit 12 of Telangana State Power Generation Corporation (TSGENCO)'s Kothagudem Thermal Power Station (KTPS) at Paloncha in Telangana commissioned in Jan 2019 taking the total installed capacity at this plant to 2,660 MW. BHEL was the EPC contractor and commissioned the plant in a record speed of 46 months at an estimated cost of Rs 5,700 crore.

    Unit 3 of Bhartiya Rail Bijlee Company Limited (BRBCL)'s Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project at Sivanpur village in Nabinagar taluk in Aurangabad district, Bihar commissioned in Mar 2019 taking the total installed capacity at this plant to 750 MW. Unit 4 - 250 MW capacity is under construction. The plant was built by BHEL.

    Unit 3 of NTPC's Bongaigaon Super Thermal Power Project located at Salakati in Kokrajhar district of Assam commissioned at 00 hrs of 26 Mar 2019 taking the total installed capacity at this plant to 750 MW. The two units of 250 MW each of Bongaigaon project in Assam have already been made operational in June 2016 and March 2017.
