Official unveiling of the Tesla Semi, a very big and very powerful electric truck, that promises to turn the existing transportation industry upside down.

Estimated reduction in operational costs the Tesla Semi compared to its gas and diesel counterparts on account of lower maintenance, fuel, and insurance costs.

Driving range, which could be seen as a constraint, but many trucks drive less than that per day, and their operations are well suited for charging/battery swap. Besides, it will beat the 100 miles currently achieved by rivals Daimler and Cummins.

Expected payback based on estimated price range of $200,000 to $240,000 for low and high range versions. This is estimated to reduce further to 2 years by 2020.
