Work stayed by Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court upholding filed by some land owners, including a lawyer Rahul Puranik. The stay was lifted on May 21, 2008 after which work resumed.

Puranik and other land owners staged protests and stalled the work, demanding adequate compensation. The contractor stopped the work and removed all machinery from the spot on November 11, 2008.
2010
Work resumes after compensation issues are settled. However, a new problem regarding shifting of low and high voltage lines passing from the area cropped up.

Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation (VIDC), the body responsible for the construction of the dam, had to secure an approval for a fresh cost estimate of Rs. 16.78 crore.
