Project achieves financial close having signed a PPA for 100% of its output with Snowy Hydro. The long-term power purchase agreement with Snowy Hydro includes a “zero price” clause - this means the off-taker will not pay for the output of the solar farm at the contracted price if the market price falls into negative territory.

UGL - a CIMIC Group company - awarded contracts by Equis Energy (now Vena Energy) to build and maintain project. The project will generate revenue to UGL of approximately $170 million and is due to commence in early 2018, with power generation to the grid expected in 2019. UGL will undertake the engineering, procurement and construction of the project, including the associated substation and, critically, will provide the internal expertise to ensure the project is integrated successfully into the electricity network. Once operational, UGL will provide the operation and maintenance services for a five-year period.

Commencement of construction.

Project obtains generation licence from the state’s regulator and plans to start commissioning the project in a few weeks, with full production scheduled for mid April.

Project starts feeding power into the grid.

Official opening of the project. Earlier the project achieved its first generation in February as part of a staged testing and commissioning process. This is Vena Energy's first Australian project.

The project become the first renewable project of its kind to be granted approval for self-forecast generation by the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO). The milestone makes Tailem Bend the first semi-dispatched renewable energy project in the National Electricity Market in Australia to switch from AEMO’s forecasting tool to a self-forecasting model.
