    Launch of the Ahorrate Una Luz program. The program is the second phase of Mexico's commitment to replace inefficient domestic lighting and in keeping with NOM-028-ENER-2010 coming into effect that mandates withdrawal of ICLs (Incandescent light bulbs) from being sold in the country.

    bulbs will be replaced per family/beneficiary for free upon registration at notified locations/stores.

    localities with population of less than 100,000 habitants will be covered by the program. This will cover 2,196 municipalities across all the states.

    old ICL bulbs will be replaced by CFL bulbs that are 75% more efficient.

    DICONSA stores/outlets will be set up for registration and distribution of the bulbs

    investment made in the project for purchase of bulbs through vendors selected via a tendering process.
  • 2,396 GWh
    savings per year upon completion of the project.
  • 938 MW
    avoided installed capacity, equivalent to the generation capacity of the hydroelectric plant Aguamilpa.
  • 2,721 pesos
    savings per household per year.
  • 1,165,533 tonnes
    reduction in CO2 equivalent emissions per year.
